Virgin Atlantic's DIY online Check-in allows you to check-in up to 24 hours before your flight departs. All you need is an internet connection! To use DIY Check-in you have to: - Check-in 2-24 hours before your flight is scheduled to depart. - You are not traveling to/from Nigeria. - You are not departing from India or the Caribbean. - You are not a special needs passenger. Make sure you leave enough time at the airport to get through security, check your bags etc. The baggage drop closes 60 minutes before departure time. If you have bags to check but will have to drop your bags at a DIY Check In Bag Drop at the airport before the cut-off time of 60 minutes prior to departure. When you use DIY Check-in you can change/celect your seat.
Virgin Atlantic recommends you arrive at the airport 2-3 hours before your flight is scheduled to depart. The cut-off time for checking in and checking baggage is 60 minutes before departure time.

Children up to 2 years old (24 months), are not required to have their own seat. You can also choose to purchase a seat for your infant as long as you have the proper child restraint device. Contact Virgin Atlantic for more information about travel domestically. A child under 2 years old (24 months) to travel internationally is usually charged 10% of an adult fare plus taxes, even if the infant will be on the lap of another passenger for the flight.
Economy and Premium Economy passengers are allowed 1 carry-on bag that adheres to the following requirements:
- Maximum Dimensions of Carry-on Luggage: 22in x 14in x 9in/56cm x 36cm x 23cm
- Maximum Weight of Carry-on Luggage: 13 lb/6 kg
Uppper Class passengers are allowed 2 carry-on bags that adhere to the following requirements:
- Maximum Dimensions of Carry-on Luggage: 22in x 14in x 9in/56cm x 36cm x 23cm
- Maximum Weight of Carry-on Luggage (each bag): 18 lb/8 kg
Checked Baggage Allowance for passengers traveling in Economy on Transatlantic, Caribbean, and Nigerian routes are allowed 2 bags as long as each bag meets the following requirements:
- Maximum Dimensions: 62 linear inches/157 cm
- Maximum Weight: 51 lb/23 kg
Checked Baggage Allowance for passengers traveling in Premium Economy on Transatlantic, Caribbean, and Nigerian routes are allowed 2 bags as long as each bag meets the following requirements:
- Maximum Dimensions: 62 linear inches/157 cm
- Maximum Weight: 70 lb/32 kg
Checked Baggage Allowance for passengers traveling in Upper Class on Transatlantic, Caribbean, and Nigerian routes are allowed 3 bags as long as each bag meets the following requirements:
- Maximum Dimensions: 62 linear inches/157 cm
- Maximum Weight: 70 lb/32 kg
Checked Baggage Allowance for passengers traveling on South African, Australian, Asian and Dubai routes must adhere to the following weigth requirements by class of service:
- Maximum Weight for Economy and Premium Economy passengers: 44 lb/20 kg
- Maximum Weight for Upper Class passengers: 66 lb/30 kg
