Kenya Airways' online check-in allows you to check in up to 30 hours before your flight departs. To use online check-in you have to: - Check-in 3-30 hours before your flight is scheduled to depart. - You are traveling with an e-ticket. - You are flying out of Nairobi, London, Paris, Amsterdam, or Johannesburg. Make sure you leave enough time at the airport to get through security, check your bags, etc. If you have bags to check, after printing your boarding pass at home, you will have to drop your luggage at the dedicated online check-in drop off point and proceed to the boarding gate. You can select or change your seat while checking in online.
For all international flights, passengers are required to check in at least two and a half hours before departure of flight (depends of class of travel). Flying Blue Elite members (Gold and Platinum) traveling from Nairobi to any destination have priority check in and boarding and lounge access with one guest. Remember to present your Flying Blue card at the counter to automatically register your miles. Request for an upgrade to business class if you have sufficient miles. Upgrades are applicable only if you hold an economy ticket booked on S, B, or M booking classe.

Children up to 2 years old (24 months), are not required to have their own seat. Lap children can only be held by passengers who are at least 15 years of age. A child under 2 years old (24 months) can travel for free as long as the infant will be on the lap of another passenger for the flight. Yes, a child up to 2 years old (24 months) is usually charged 10% of an adult fare plus taxes, even if the infant will be on the lap of another passenger for the flight.
Each passenger is allowed to carry on one bag as long as it adheres to maximum dimensions of carry-on luggage: 44 linear in/112 cm (56 cm X 36 cm X 20 cm), maximum weight of carry-on luggage: 22 lb/10 kg.
In addition to the one carry on item, the following items may be carried free of charge by all passengers (except infants): overcoat, wrap or blanket, umbrella or walking stick, ladies handbag, a reasonable amount of reading material, small camera, small laptop, collapsible baggage trolley, crutches and/or braces/prosthetic devices, which the passenger is dependent on, briefcase or laptop-sized bag.
For passengers traveling from Europe to Nairobi, Mombasa, Dar es Salaam, Entebbe, Khartoum, Kigali, Bujumbura, Lusaka, Lilongwe, Kinshasa, and Addis,:
- Economy Class: 2 pieces, 50 lb/23 kg per piece
- Business Class: 2 pieces, 70 lb/32 kg per piece
- Maximum Dimensions: 62 linear inches/158 cm
For all other routes checked baggage allowance is:
- Economy Class: 1 piece, 44 lb/20 kg
- Business Class: 1 piece, 66 lb/30 kg
- Maximum Dimensions: 62 linear inches/158 cm (length + width + height)
For passengers traveling from Europe to Nairobi, Mombasa, Dar es Salaam, Entebbe, Khartoum, Kigali, Bujumbura, Lusaka, Lilongwe, Kinshasa, and Addis:
- When the weight is more than 23kg but not above 32kg, a charge of ˆ50 (or the equivalent in local currency) applies.
- For each extra piece not exceeding the maximum allowed weight and size, a charge of ˆ150 (or the equivalent in local currency) applies.
Bags weighing more than 32 kg will not be accepted.
