AirTran's Online Check-in allows you to check in up to 24 hours before your flight departs. To use Online Check-in you have to:
- Check-in 90 minutes-24 hours before your flight is scheduled to depart.
- Your itinerary only includes domestic travel.
- You have an electronic ticket.
- You are not a special needs passenger.
Make sure you leave enough time at the airport to get through security, check your bags etc. You will be able to print your boarding pass at home but will have to drop your bags at an AirTran Check-in counter at the airport before the cut-off time. When you use Online Check-in you can change or select your seat.
If you plan to check in at the airport, AirTran recommends you arrive at the airport 90 minutes before your flight's scheduled departure.The cut-off time for checking in is 45 minutes before scheduled departure time (at smaller airports, the minimum time may be 30 minutes).
AirTran Airways is a low-cost airline that is a Delaware corporation with headquarters in Orlando, Florida, USA and is a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings. AirTran operates over 750 daily flights throughout the eastern USA and the Midwest. Over 270 of them daily departures from Atlanta. It is the world's largest Boeing 717 operator. AirTran's principal hub is at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, and the airline's parent company, AirTran Holdings, is headquartered at Orlando International Airport, where AirTran also running a secondary hub.
Children up to 2 years old (24 months), are not required to have their own seat. Lap children can only be held by passengers who are at least 16 years of age. You can also choose to purchase a seat for your infant as long as you have the proper child restraint device.
While traveling domestically a child under 2 years old (24 months) can travel for free as long as the infant will be on the lap of another passenger for the flight.
While traveling internationally a child under 2 years old (24 months) is usually charged 10% of an adult fare plus taxes, even if the infant will be on the lap of another passenger for the flight.
Each passenger is allowed to carry on one bag and one personal item such as a purse or briefcase, maximum dimensions of carry-on luggage 55 linear inches. Each passengers is allowed 2 checked bags as long as they fulfill to the following requirements: baggage allowance 2 pieces, maximum dimensions 62 linear inches/157 cm, maximum weight 50 lb/23 kg.
Fee for any bag weighing 51-70 lb: $25. Fee for any bag weighing 70-100 lb: $65. Bags weighing more than 100 lb will not be accepted. Fee for any bag between 63-80 in: $65. Bags with overall dimensions that exceed 80 inches will not be accepted. Fee for each additional bag: $50.
