Air New Zealand does not currently offer online check-in.
If you are traveling domestically Air New Zealand requires that you are checked in at least 30 minutes before your flight's departure time. If you have special needs you should allow at least 45 minutes at the airport. If you are travelling within New Zealand to an international connection, Air New Zealand kindly asks that you are checked in 45 minutes before your flight's departure time. For flights departing out of the following airports, you will be required to check in 60 minutes before your flight: Auckland, Wellington or Christchurch. If you are travelling internationally, Air New Zealand recommends arriving at the airport at least 2 hours before your flight's departure time. From flights to/from the U.S. departing from the following airports, Air New Zealand recommends arriving 3 hours before scheduled departure: Auckland, Nadi, London, Los Angeles, Honolulu, Apia and Tonga.
Air New Zealand Limited is a scheduled passenger airline based in Auckland, New Zealand, and the national flag carrier. Its focus is on Australasia and the South Pacific, with services to Europe, North America and Asia, and it is a Star Alliance member. Its main hub is Auckland International Airport.
Children up to 2 years old (24 months) are not required to have their own seat. Lap children can only be held by passengers who are at least 15 years of age.You can also choose to purchase a seat for your infant as long as you have the proper child restraint device. While traveling domestically a child under 2 years old (24 months) can travel for free as long as the infant will be on the lap of another passenger for the flight. While traveling internationally a child under 2 years old (24 months) is usually charged 10% of an adult fare plus taxes, even if the infant will be on the lap of another passenger for the flight.
Each passenger is allowed to carry on one bag and one personal item such as a purse or briefcase with maximum dimensions of carry-on luggage 45 linear in/115 cm, maximum weight of carry-on luggage 15 lb/7 kg.
Passengers traveling within New Zealand, or between New Zealand and Australia, the Pacific Islands, Asia or Japan must adhere to the below weight requirements:
- Economy or Premium Economy Class: 44 lb/20 kg
- Business Class: 66 lb/30 kg
- Star Alliance Gold Members (including Airpoints Gold and Gold Elite) Members are allowed an additional 44 lb/20 kgs.
Passengers traveling to/from the U.S., Canada or Tahiti or for flights between New Zealand and London via Los Angeles, must adhere to the below requirements to checked baggage:
- Baggage Allowance: 2 pieces
- Maximum Dimensions: 62 linear inches/157 cm
- Maximum Weight: 70 lb/32 kg
- Star Alliance Gold Members (including Airpoints Gold and Gold Elite) are allowed an additional piece of baggage meeting the same requirements.
If you have more bags than the permitted allowance or your bags exceed the weight or linear restrictions, you will be charged additional fees, in that case please contact Air New Zealand.
